We are sad to report that Gus Gulisano, Amware's Chief Culture officer, passed away earlier this month at 10 years of age. The 260-pound English Mastiff was the family pet of Amware CEO Vin Gulisano and his wife Sandi.
Gus is best remembered for his many years serving as a therapy dog at Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH), where he made friends with hundreds of staff members and young patients in PCH's cancer wing. Check out Gus's Facebook page.
Gus was truly a gentle giant. As the parent of one PCH patient put it, "Gus brought joy on so many days when it didn't seem joy was possible."
Gus will be sorely missed, but his role at Amware, and at PCH, will soon be filled by "Ike" Gulisano, an 8-month-old Mastiff and the latest addition to the Gulisano clan.
We say goodbye to Gus, but do so with many wonderful memories.
